Bartlett's Hare, St. Charles North's Davern have milestone days
Kayla Hare joined some elite company on Friday afternoon.
The Bartlett senior erupted for 34 points in the Hawks' 77-55 win over Rockford Auburn at the Naperville Central Thanksgiving tournament and in the process became the 10th Bartlett girls basketball player to eclipse 1,000 points for her career.
The Missouri-St. Louis recruit now has 1,003 career points.
Freshman Lexie Sinclair added 22 points for Bartlett (2-2), which concludes tournament play against St. Joseph on Saturday.
St. Charles North 54, Proviso West 53: Anna Davern scored a career-high 32 points to lead the North Stars (2-2) to a win at the Hoffman Estates tournament. Annie Tate added 15 points to the win.
West Aurora 58, Oswego 51: Kiyanna Rodgers had 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals while Skylar Doby scored 17 points to lead the Blackhawks (4-0) into Saturday's War-Hawk tournament championship game at Waubonsie Valley against Marian Catholic. Keva Thomas added 7 points and 11 rebounds for West Aurora.
Benet 59, Batavia 42: Geddy Rerko (12 points), Erin Golden (10 points) and Ava Sergio (9 points) led Batavia (2-2) in this loss at the Naperville Central tournament.
Stevenson 44, St. Charles East 29: At the Schaumburg tournament, Sara Rosenfeldt led SCE with 9 points.
Cary-Grove 59, Johnsburg 49: Late Wednesday, Katie Sowa scored 22 points and Vanessa Morris added 17 for Cary-Grove (3-2). Sowa is now 22 points shy of 1,000 for her career.
