Learn about Des Plaines watershed at March 9 event

Characteristics of the Des Plaines watershed and flood problem areas will be discussed from 1 to 3 p.m. March 9, at the Lake County Central Permit Facility, 500 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville.

More than 358,000 residents live in the 235-square-mile watershed planning area. Development, landscape changes, and agricultural practices play a major role in water quality and flood problems.

Participants will learn how size, geology and soils, topography, shape, land use/cover, and vegetation are important factors affecting stormwater runoff within the watershed. Visit http://www.lakecountyil.gov/ for more information.
