Aurora woman accused of stalking
An Aurora woman has been accused of following, watching and other stalking behavior in violation of a court order, officials said Tuesday.
Karen E. Reed, 51, of the 1700 block of North Marywood Avenue, was arrested Friday and charged with felony aggravated stalking, felony stalking and misdemeanor violating a stalking no-contact order, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.
The stalking no-contact order, issued in 2018, prohibits Reed from contacting the victim and from being within 500 feet of the victim, her home and another address, authorities said.
Prosecutors said Reed in May followed the victim from the victim's home to a car wash and watched her. Later that month, Reed tried to communicate with the victim via a text message.
Then in July, prosecutors say, Reed waited in her car for the victim to leave a house in Aurora and drove past her. At 5 a.m. the next day, Reed again followed the victim after she left the same home in Aurora, officials said.
Two days later, Reed was leaving a shopping center parking lot when she saw the victim drive into the lot. Reed then turned around, parked next to the store the victim entered, and waited there until the victim left, officials said.
The charges were filed Aug. 18.
Reed is free on $850 bond. Her next court date is Oct. 14.
