Late rally snaps Cougars' 8-game win streak
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored 5 runs in the bottom of the ninth Tuesday in Appleton to shock Kane County and end the Cougars' 8-game winning streak.
For the visiting Cougars (20-25, 53-61), it was only the fourth time this season they had surrendered a lead after the eighth inning. The Cougars led 6-2 before Wisconsin (22-23, 56-59) stormed back to take a 7-6 victory.
Cougars right-hander Emilio Vargas (4-5) gave up just 2 runs in 6 innings on the mound, and was supported by home runs from Marcus Wilson and Trevor Mitsui.
Wisconsin's opened with ninth with a double, a single and another double, followed by a hit batter, a walk and a wild pitch. Trent Clark concluded the scoring with a walk-off two-run double to win the game.
