Wi-Fi work planned at Stevenson
The Stevenson High School board will meet Monday to discuss improving the Lincolnshire campus' Wi-Fi service and other issues. Last year, equipment that supported outdoor Wi-Fi access was supposed to be installed on outdoor light poles. But officials discovered those poles operated automatically based on daylight patterns, so the service wouldn't be available if the lights were off, school spokesman Jim Conrey said. To fix the situation, the board is considering hiring a firm called Meade Electric to run dedicated electricity lines to the wireless antennas on different light poles in a parking lot. The work is expected to cost $31,150 and could be done this summer. The original work cost nearly $50,000. The meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Exceptional Learners Collaborative, 601 Deerfield Parkway, Buffalo Grove. The meeting is being held at that location because a separate board discussion is scheduled there earlier in the day, officials said.
