Elk Grove congratulates partners on Tokyo Olympics performance

When Elk Grove Village officials signed on as sponsors of three national governing bodies representing United States athletes in the sports of track and field, wrestling and triathlon, they hoped to use the popularity of the Summer Games to raise awareness of the village's Makers Wanted brand and its status as a top location for high tech companies, manufacturers and other businesses.

The village cheered the athletes in these sports on to an impressive 37 medal-winning performances in Tokyo. This total earned the village a rank of fourth among corporate sponsors, based on medal-earning by NGB partners, behind big brands such as Toyota and Nike.

Elk Grove Village officials congratulated all the athletes that represented the United States, especially those who made it on to the medal podium from USA Track & Field, USA Wrestling, and USA Triathlon.

Members of the USATF team medaled in 26 events (seven gold, 12 silver, seven bronze). Members of USA Wrestling medaled in 9 events (three gold, two silver, four bronze). Members of the USA Triathlon team medaled in two events (one silver, one bronze), and also achieved their highest finish ever in the men's event with a sixth-place finish.

The village sponsored these teams with the overall goal to drive awareness of Makers Wanted and Elk Grove Village through both earned media and paid advertising on various cable and digital channels leading up to the Games in Tokyo this summer.

"It was such a thrill to partner with USATF, USA Wrestling and USA Triathlon. The performance of athletes we supported exceeded even our high expectations. We salute every American athlete that represented our country in Tokyo this summer," said Elk Grove Village Mayor Craig Johnson.

"The opportunity to showcase all that Elk Grove Village has to offer businesses on an international stage helps us retain our own competitive edge as we work every day to recruit and retain top-notch businesses."
