Lake County Sheriff: Beware of bogus fundraising calls

The Lake County Sheriff's Office says phone calls or mailings soliciting money on its behalf are bogus, noting that the office does not make phone calls or send mailings seeking monetary donations.

The sheriff is working with the Illinois attorney general's office to ensure the public is not intentionally/or unintentionally misled, officials say.

Anyone receiving a mailing can forward it to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, 25 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085. To report a call or mailing, call investigators at (847) 377-4250.
