Kohl's Corp., up $6.15 to $44.19
The department store chain posted strong quarterly profit and sales as it cut costs and managed its inventory well.
Shake Shack Inc., down $2.53 to $38.34
The burger chain reported a larger than expected profit but said sales slowed down at its older restaurants.
Macy's Inc., up $5.81 to $39.81
The department store's results were better than expected, and it said it will close about 100 stores next year.
Blue Buffalo Pet Products Inc., down $1.16 to $25.68
The pet food maker gave up some of its recent gains despite a strong second-quarter report.
A. Schulman Inc., down $8.09 to $21.89
The supplier of plastics compounds and resins cut its annual guidance because of lower sales in the U.S. and Europe.
Brinker International Inc., up $5.75 to $52.72
The owner of Chili's Bar & Grill and Maggiano's Little Italy topped analyst projections and plans to buy back more stock.
General Growth Properties Inc., down $1.06 to $29.66
Real estate investment trusts, particularly trusts that own and operate malls, traded lower after the announcement from Macy's.
Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc., down $2.83 to $24.49
