LHS Debate at State

The Libertyville High School debate team participated in the IHSA State Debate Tournament March 17-18 at the University of Illinois-Springfield. Team members received the following honors:

• Claire Mills was ninth seed and finished as an Octa-finalist in Lincoln Douglas.

• Meghan Mullins and Alex Duffy were 15 Seed and an Octa-Finalists in Public Forum.

• Chandrea Baster and Alo Garcia Escobar were fifth seed and Quarter Finalists in Public Forum.

Debate team members are Lucy Sun, Albert Guan, Connor Hayes, Meghan Mullins, Alex Duffy, Claire Mills, Chandrea Baster, Alo Garcia Escobar, Emily Regan, and Natalie Perritano. The team is coached by Brian Voss, Dennis Duffy and Sarah Greenswag.

An overview of this year's debate season included:

• Tournaments attended: 11

• Topics debated: 9

• Rounds debated: 51

• Season Schedule: Aug. 1 through March 19

One team is still preparing for the National Tournament to be held during Memorial Day weekend.
