Girls water polo: Cordova, Schaumburg edge Buffalo Grove

Junior Kailey Cordova scored 3 goals to help host Schaumburg top Buffalo Grove 6-4 on Wednesday in a Mid-Suburban League girls water polo divisional crossover.

Senior Ingrid Hay (2) and sophomore Veronica Campbell (1) gave the host Saxons (6-7) scoring from three different class members.

Schaumburg senior goalkeeper Magda Jasinska stopped 14 shots.

Katie Wasilewski paced Buffalo Grove (4-7) with 2 goals while Anna Maria Apostolopoulou and Diana Morosan had 1 apiece.

Conant 15, Rolling Meadows 2: Host Conant (11-1) was led by Olivia Olszewski (4 goals), Nia Tsoulos (4) and Amy Rodriguez (3). The Cougars received 10 saves from keeper Lauren Day.

Maggie Goodwin and Rylan Bratek had the goals for Meadows (8-4) in the MSL crossover.

Elk Grove 9, Palatine 4: Alyssa Bonilla had 5 goals and 4 steals while Kaylee Hatfield added 2 goals with 4 steals and 1 assists for the visiting Grenadiers, who improved to 8-3 with the MSL crossover win. Other key performers for EG were Rachel Ford (1 goal, 2 steals), Evita Ferrari (1 assist), Gillian Guerra (1 goal, 2 assists, 1 steal) and Abby Farmer (3 steals, 1 assist).

Goalkeeper Melena Herrera made 15 saves and had a pair of assists.

Freshman Maggie O'Brien led the Pirates (1-14) with 3 goals while senior Chelsea Nicolas added 1. Claire Davis made 9 saves.

Barrington 15, Wheeling 4: Barrington rallied from a 4-3 first quarter deficit to improve to 6-2 overall.

The host Fillies, who scored 10 goals in the second half, were led by Jackie West and Alex Kelly with 3 apiece. Morgan Kelly, Emily Schulze and Courtney Blum each had a pair of goals while Rachel Snyder, Brittany Snyder and Valerie Lindsey had one each.

Rebecca Cheeseman (5 saves) and Morgan Kelly (4 saves) handled the goalkeeping duties.

Keeper Morgan Engbretson stopped 13 shots for Wheeling (1-7). Julia Kosobudzke scored 3 goals for Wheeling while Estephania Diaz added 1.

Hersey 14, Hoffman Estates 6: The visiting Huskies improved to 11-0 overall, while the Hawks slipped to 4-8.
