Attorney joins Grainger team

LAKE FOREST - Attorney Nic Eichenseer has joined Grainger as associate general counsel.

Eichenseer joined the company earlier this month and comes to Lake Forest-based Grainger with experience spanning more than 15 years. As associate general counsel, he will collaborate and work across multiple disciplines at Grainger while leveraging his deep expertise as a white-collar and cybercrime federal prosecutor, deputy chief and former SEC counsel.

He has a proven record of trying and investigating complex matters and interpreting federal privacy and e-communication laws. In his previous position, Eichenseer was an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the Office of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois from 2015 through 2021, most recently serving as acting deputy chief of the Criminal Division.

As an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Chicago, Eichenseer was the lead prosecutor on the hacking investigation and prosecution of a former Grainger IT contractor, as well as fraud, public corruption, national security and violent crime cases. Prior to that role, he worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission as senior counsel in the Enforcement Division for over three years.

Eichenseer began his career as a law clerk in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit for the Honorable Diane Sykes. He later spent five years at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Chicago as a litigation and mass torts associate.
