Suburban father charged in death of 10-week-old daughter

CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban Chicago man is charged with aggravated battery in the death of his 10-week-old daughter.

Authorities say Jonathon Middono is accused in the death Kora Middono, who was airlifted to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago on Monday and pronounced dead. Kora was first taken to a hospital in Grundy County on Sunday. Investigators were told then the child's injuries occurred when the 29-year-old Middono collapsed from a heart condition and landed on the child.

Lurie Children's Hospital staff determined Kora's condition "indicated significant injuries to her head consistent with blunt force trauma." The Cook County medical examiner's office determined her death was a homicide.

Channahon Police Department Deputy Chief Adam Bogart said additional charges against the 29-year-old Middono are possible.

Middono is being held in lieu of $2 million bond. It wasn't immediately known if he has legal representation.
