Man charged in death of woman, 85, to be returned to Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - A man arrested last week in California for allegedly setting an Indiana house fire that killed an 85-year-old woman has waived extradition.

Monroe County Deputy Prosecutor Jeff Kehr says 48-year-old Noel Montes Cazares is expected to be returned to Bloomington within two weeks.

He faces murder, arson and other charges in Lerae Britain Moeller Bush's Feb. 10 death in a Bloomington-area house fire.

The Herald-Times reports that Bush was an arts patron with an estimated net worth in the millions of dollars. Investigators say Cazares worked as her handyman in California and has falsely claimed she was his mother.

Authorities allege he may have killed her with the intent of inheriting her fortune. He remained jailed Tuesday in Indio, California, and it wasn't clear if he has an attorney.
