Letter: Astonishing indifference to property tax question

Arlington Heights Elementary School District 25 had a referendum on the ballot this last primary for a tax hike for all homeowners to help fund critical upgrades across the properties in the district.

What confounds me is that with the chance to vote yea or nay on an item that would cost the average Arlington Heights resident, if passed, around $400 per year, less that 30% of eligible voters cast ballots.

This leaves me to think the majority of Arlington Heights voters don't mind if someone else chooses if their tax bills stay the same or go up. I find that to be incredibly astounding.
