Malfunction causes acid leak at Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club

Pool equipment at the Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club malfunctioned Wednesday, leaking about five gallons of hydrochloric acid, the Oak Brook Fire Department said in a news release Thursday.

The fire Department responded about 2 p.m. to the club, 800 Oak Brook Road, the news release said.

The building was evacuated as a precaution. The leak was contained to a basement mechanical room, and the one employee who was potentially exposed was given a medical evaluation, the fire department said. The pool remained closed for the rest of the day.
