Dundee and Randall Oaks Libraries closed through March 29

The Fox River Valley Libraries, which include the Dundee Library in East Dundee and the Randall Oaks Library in West Dundee, will close temporarily, starting Saturday, March 14. This decision is in response to the nationwide effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing, and the direction of Gov. JB Pritzker to close Illinois schools until the end of the month.

Plans are to remain closed through Sunday, March 29, but the library will continue to monitor the situation and reassess as more information becomes available.

While closed, library staff will carry out extra cleaning and disinfecting of the building. Due dates on all currently checked out materials will be extended until April 20. Patrons are free to keep and enjoy their items during this time. Fine-free policies will take effect once the library reopens.

Materials hold services will be suspended during the closing. Patrons will be unable to place holds or pick up holds at either the Dundee Library or Randall Oaks Library.

FRVPLD library cardholders can continue to use the library without visiting by downloading eBooks; listening to downloadable and streaming audiobooks; streaming movies and TV shows; streaming music; reading digital comics, newspapers, and magazines; taking online classes; and much more. Browse the library website at www.frvpld.info for information about checking out online materials and resources.

The district serves 70,000 residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin.
