Softball: Crystal Lake South stays hot

Emily Sulikowski led Crystal Lake South (24-1) to a 16-0 victory over McHenry by driving in 4 runs.

She went 2-for-2 at the plate, driving in runs on a single in the first, a sacrifice fly in the fourth, and a single in the fourth. Christina Toniolo earned the victory in the circle surrendering 2 hits over 3 innings, striking out three.

Huntley 5, Hampshire 1: The Red Raiders (23-7) got things rolling on a first inning home run from Sofia Tenuta and never looked back. Bri Bower earned the win, allowing 2 hits and a run over 7 innings, striking out 11 batters and walking one. Katie Del Re took the loss for Hampshire (12-14), throwing 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, striking out six and walking one.

Dundee-Crown 7, Crystal Lake Central 6: The Chargers (6-17) stole the lead late in the game when Cady English grounded out, scoring a run to break the 6-6 tie. Caleigh Gertz earned the victory going the complete game and allowing 6 runs on 11 hits and striking out one.

Cary-Grove 2, Jacobs 0: Both teams were strong in the circle on Thursday, but Cary-Grove was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Jacobs on Thursday. Sarah Lynch started the game for the Golden Eagles (13-9) and recorded 15 outs.

St. Charles East 10, Batavia 0: The Saints (18-8) continued their outstanding pitching having allowed just 3 runs in their last 6 games. Katie Arrambide allowed just 1 hit while striking out 12 and walking four. Kati Gheorghe, Izzy Howe and Lauren Luna a doubled to lead a 13-hit attack. Luna was 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and Krista Sbarra went 3-for-3 with 3 runs.

Hanna Mackowiak had the only hit for Batavia who was coming off a win over Geneva.

South Elgin 14, Larkin 3: Four hits from Cara Cruthers helped lead South Elgin (19-6) past Larkin. Cruthers doubled in the first, singled in the third, tripled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. Angelina Guido led the Storm to victory in the circle, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs over 6 innings, striking out four and walking one. Katie Turner went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Larkin in hits and Kailey Cronin took the loss.

Riverside-Brookfield 6, Aurora Central Catholic 1: Dani Brown was in the circle for the Chargers (24-5) and allowed 4 hits and 5 runs over 3 innings, striking out five. Olivia and Izzy Hernandez had 2 hits a piece to lead the Aurora Central offense.
