Teach importance of Juneteenth

Let's not make Juneteenth just another paid holiday that will lose its meaning in a few years. Do most schoolchildren even know why we celebrate most of our national holidays like Veterans Day and Memorial Day? Or is it just another long weekend?

Juneteenth should be used to educate everyone what it stands for. Children should be in school studying the true meaning of the day. Adults should spend the day at work doing their best to learn to get along with one another. I do not agree with Mr. Cronin that "everybody has learned and appreciated the significance of this moment in history." But we need to do just that. All of us. Right now.
