Lake County jail guards administer Naloxone to save woman
A North Chicago woman who had just turned herself in at the Lake County jail was saved by guards using Naloxone, officials said.
The 37-year-old woman turned herself about 1 p.m. Thursday after a warrant was issued for her arrest on charges of possession of a controlled substance, authorities said.
Shortly thereafter, the woman collapsed, was unconscious and began labored breathing, officials said.
Corrections Officer Dionne Dawson and Deputy Christopher Perley administered four doses of Naloxone to assist the woman in regaining consciousness, authorities said.
Waukegan paramedics took the woman to the hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
