Car thieves interrupted in Des Plaines

Two burglars tried to steal a pair of vehicles from a Des Plaines rental car business on Monday afternoon but were interrupted by an employee, police said.

The confrontation occurred about 4:30 p.m. at Hertz Rent-a-Car, 2170 Mannheim Road.

The would-be thieves, who were wearing black clothes and masks, fled on foot through a hole in a fence at the business.
