Use persuasion, not insults

The phrase, "Wake Up, America"; I see this term used frequently by those who contribute to the letters to the editor page. It's usually used in the context of someone who has very strong sentiments or feelings regarding a topic. To those who do like to use this phrase, kindly skip it.

The fact is, most people who read the letters to the editor are awake, or attempting to be so. On a more literal note, to imply for someone to "wake up" to understand your position is akin to throwing vegetable oil on a fire to put it out. Folks, it just does not work.

So my advice, and this is free, is to write and post in more persuasive style. Less bombastic and more factual data just may win over readers to your position.

Yeah, I understand most folks nowadays have the attention span of a gnat but, hey, stranger things have happened.
