Cougars lose, split series in Beloit
BELOIT, Wis. - Splitting the four-game road series, the Kane County Cougars (21-16) dropped a close decision, 7-6, to the Beloit Snappers at Pohlman Field on Wednesday afternoon.
While the Cougars fought back in the eighth inning on an Anfernee Grier double to get within 1 run of the lead, the Snappers held. The loss knocked the Cougars out of first place in the Western Division for the first time this season.
The Cougars start a four-game home series Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. with the Quad Cities River Bandits. On the mound for the Cougars, southpaw Cody Reed (2-1, 1.38 ERA) matches up against Quad Cities' right-hander Forrest Whitley (1-2, 4.80 ERA).
