Boys water polo: Warnstedt paces Fremd's victory

Senior Derek Warnstedt had 6 goals to help lead visiting Fremd to an 11-7 win against Schaumburg in Mid-Suburban West boys water polo on Wednesday.

Junior Sebastian Lekas added 2 goals while Russell Beaupre, James Steininger and Sean Warner each had one.

Junior goalie Christian Zukowski made 12 saves for the Vikings (11-8, 5-4).

Matt Soltau and Chris Suarez both scored 2 goals for Schaumburg (9-14, 4-5) while Michael Burke, Ryan Gustafson and Brandon Jaimes had 1 apiece. Junior goalie Michael Hahn made 8 saves.

Barrington 11, Palatine 6: Broncos junior Steven Fischer powered in 7 goals to pave the way as Barrington (16-2, 9-0) clinched an outright MSL West championship for a second straight year.

Senior Sean O'Brien accounted for all the scoring for Palatine (4-12, 2-7).

Prospect 11, Elk Grove 8: Dan Macina scored 4 goals and Jake Kosinski added 3 for the host Knights, who improved to 10-8 and 6-3 in the MSL East. Elk Grove (6-14, 3-6) was led by Mike Kulpa's 3 goals while Amar Patel and Chris Tchilikov each added 2.

Buffalo Grove 12, Rolling Meadows 5: The Bison assured themselves of a second straight outright championship in the MSL East, improving to 20-3 overall and 9-0 in the division.
