Two newcomers join Lincolnshire's village board

Lincolnshire's newest village board members took their seats on the dais Monday night following swearing-in ceremonies at village hall.

Newcomers Veronica Pantelis and Jill Raizin replace veterans Dan Servi and Tom McDonough on the board.

"Congratulations," Mayor Elizabeth Brandt said after the rookies recited their oaths of office with help from Village Clerk Barbara Mastandrea. "Now let's get to work."

Neither Servi nor McDonough sought re-election in April's local election. Both had been on the board since 2003. McDonough also served as trustee from 1993 to 1995.

Incumbents Mara Grujanac and Julie Harms Muth retained their posts in April and recited their oaths of office Monday, too, as did Brandt and Mastandrea.

Brandt and Mastandrea ran unopposed for their respective posts in April, earning 4-year terms. Brant has been mayor since 2015; Mastandrea has been clerk since 1987.

Grujanac, Harms Muth and Pantelis were the only candidates for three trustee seats with 4-year terms in April's election. And Raizin was the only candidate for one seat with a 2-year term.

That post had been occupied by Harms Muth, who was appointed to the board in April 2018 after Karen Feldman resigned to run for the state House.

Grujanac has served on the board since 2011.

Pantelis is a longtime Lincolnshire resident who has volunteered at local schools. She's also president of the Most Blessed Trinity Academy school board in Waukegan.

"I am looking forward to helping move our village forward and help to solve problems as we grow," Pantelis said in a prepared statement before the meeting.

Raizin is a longtime Lincolnshire resident and a community volunteer. Professionally, she works for a Chicago company that promotes cultural tourism.

Servi was honored by Brandt and the board Monday night and received some parting gifts. McDonough was absent.
