Clubhouse Chatter: First impressions of 'Last Dance'

What our Sports staff has to say while waiting for the games to resume.

So hard to pick just one thing, but I'll go with the letter MJ wrote his mom while in college and seeing both him and his mom reacting to it. Least? I've always put myself as one of the bigger members of Scottie Pippen's fan club despite the 1.8 seconds and everything else, but I didn't like hearing how over the top he went after Jerry Krause on the team bus.

— John Lemon

I liked the insight into Scottie Pippen and his family. I am a huge MJ fan, but I was disappointed to know that if MJ thought Pippen was the best teammate of his career why MJ wouldn't do something within his power to make sure Pippen was more fairly compensated.

— Patricia Babcock McGraw

It was truly eye-opening to see the kind of poverty Scottie Pippen grew up in. I didn't realize it was that bad. I also like how ESPN is taking fans back in time, returning to the 1997-1998 season, then going back again. It's a creative way to show how the Bulls were built, while also slowly unveiling what happened during their final title run.

— John Dietz

I really enjoyed seeing the parts about Scottie Pippen's journey to the NBA. Any Bulls fan knows Michael's journey to becoming the best player ever, but being reminded of how Scottie got there was cool.

Being a prep writer, the best part for me was the talk about Jordan's playing days at Laney High School in Wilmington, N.C., where as a sophomore he played on the junior varsity before seeing varsity action as a junior and senior. Also, I thought the edited (for language) version on ESPN 2 would have been fine for everyone to watch.

“That wasn't Michael Jordan out there. That was God disguised as Michael Jordan.” — Larry Bird about the night No. 23 scored 63 in a 1986 playoff game. That's why MJ is the all-time No. 1.
