Endorsements: Cerretti, Zillmann, Eggert for Round Lake Park village board
Six candidates are seeking three, 4-year seats on the Round Lake Park village board. They are split into two slates, with incumbents Robert Cerretti, Robert Culp and Paul Zillmann making up the Unity Party of Round Lake Park. They are being challenged by the You are the Village's Heart slate of Karen Eggert, Cynthia Fazekas and Ronald S. Tucibat.
Eggert, who is the current village clerk, Fazekas, a former deputy clerk, and Tucibat, a school bus driver and former warehouse manager, say they would work to eliminate the outside meeting stipend paid to trustees who attend functions outside the village, as well as other fees such as the vehicle sticker. In addition, the slate supports a more aggressive approach to alleviating flooding and street repair issues, and backs more transparency in government.
The incumbents of the Unity Party point to the village's fiscal stability and infrastructure improvements already in place as their strengths, and plan to continue working on flooding issues, as well as improvements for the village's downtown and beachfront areas.
Both slates point to key issues in improving the village. We believe a mixture of the two would bring the best combination of experience and diversity to effectively address those issues. And we find that combination in Cerretti, Eggert and Zillmann
