District 73 seeks women to mentor girls in grades 4-8

District 73 is seeking mentors to join its female leadership academy and mentor girls in fourth through eighth grade.

To kick off this new program, District 73 is inviting women who serve in leadership roles to attend an informational meeting at noon on Thursday, Oct. 6, in the district office, 841 West End Court, Vernon Hills.

"This luncheon meeting will allow us to brainstorm and discuss our vision for students. We will discuss how managers, lawyers, engineers, bankers and PTO leaders can best mentor students through this program," said Dr. Victoria Kieffer, who is spearheading the group.

The leadership academy is a part of the district's volunteer program, FACES (Family and Community Engagement for Students) which supports the district's strategic direction to develop a districtwide volunteer program to support student learning.
