Foul play not suspected as body found in Fox River in Elgin identified

An autopsy revealed no foul play in the death of a man whose body was found in the Fox River in Elgin last week, authorities said Tuesday.

Dandre E. Curtis, 32, of Elgin was identified by the Illinois State Police as the man found face down in the water by a kayaker July 7 under the Route 20 bridge.

State police said the Kane County coroner's office has cited drowning as the initial cause of death. A completed coroner's report is pending toxicology results.

Curtis's body was recovered by divers from the South Elgin Fire Department after a 911 call.
