Arrest made in Des Plaines home repair fraud case
An Indiana man has been charged with home repair fraud in a Des Plaines case from more than a year ago, police announced.
Uranus Stephens, 46, was arrested on a warrant Monday in Chicago Heights.
In 2020, Stephens collected $5,000 to repair the roof of a house on the 600 block of Marshall Drive but never did the work or responded to calls, police said in a news release.
Police eventually contacted Stephens and he pledged to make restitution at the police station, but he failed to show up with the money, the release said.
The Cook County warrant was issued this past January.
