Letter to the editor: WWII internment camps are not the same as Trump's border wall

I have read the "Repeating mistakes" letter published in the April 3 Herald several times. This is not the first time someone has written to compare FDR's order to build Japanese internment camps with Trump's order to build a border wall.

This comparison is deeply flawed in that the purpose of the Japanese internment camps was to confine citizens of the USA. By contrast, the border wall's purpose is to deny entry into the USA of illegal immigrants - you know, the "undocumented immigrants" that cross over into the country illegally.

Seems to be a significant difference.
