Get adult leadership back in Capitol
State Rep. Carol Sente has been schlepping water for Michael Madigan for the last seven years. She is a shameless servant to, and card-carrying member of, the culture of corruption that has transformed our once-mighty state into a pitiful basket case.
With all the bitter complaining about a dysfunctional state government, high taxes, and diminishing services that are normally expected from a responsible leadership, why is it that Lake County voters, who repeatedly re-elect Rep. Sente, remain an extant part of the problem in Springfield rather than part of the solution?
Grown-ups understand, with the possible exception of Bernie, that when expenditures perpetually exceed revenue, it's an unsustainable situation. Wishful thinking and feel-good voting won't solve the problems that must be addressed if we would stop the precipitous decline of our state.
Amid the deplorable milieu of tax, spend, and cry-for more in the Capitol, along comes Ms. Sente to punish us again for being foolish enough to stay here.
By introducing HB 6008, she's distending the long list of prohibited activities in Illinois; banning all hunting and shooting sports in Lake and three other counties.
She would even make illegal allowing your dog to run, and by chance chase a squirrel, on your own property.
I am not making this up - it's actually in the bill. Let's not continue to reward failed leadership. The educated and affluent voters who make up the 59th must reject our present inept representation, and send someone who treats the voters as citizens and adults.
A vote for Dawn Abernathy is the informed and caring voter's answer to the childish and dissolute legislation coming out of Springfield. It's up to us to restore Illinois.
