Holmes' double-double leads Stevenson past Lake Zurich
R.J. Holmes scored 16 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, and Stevenson's boys basketball team defeated visiting Lake Zurich 61-27 in North Suburban Conference action on Tuesday night.
Stevenson (7-2, 2-1) also received 12 points from Johnny Ittounas and 10 from Matt Kaznikov.
Lake Zurich (2-6, 0-3), which lost its fifth game in a row, was led by J.R. Cison's 15 points.
Brother Rice 76, Carmel 53: The visiting Corsairs had their three-game winning streak snapped to fall to 6-4 on the season.
Fremd 45, Grant 39: The visiting Bulldogs were within 2 points of the lead with three minutes left in the fourth quarter but fell short in the nonconference game.
Hunter Waszkowski led Grant (5-4) with 11 points, including three 3-pointers. Tavarus Williams and Henry Kusiak had 9 and 8 points, respectively, for the Bulldogs.
Grayslake Central 69, Vernon Hills 67 (OT): Antonio Crews scored 14 points, and the visiting Rams prevailed in overtime of the nonconference game.
Jack Barszcz led Vernon Hills (2-7) with 28 points, while Ryan Jacobson added 18.
Grayslake Central improved to 4-4.
Lake Forest 48, Warren 46: Jake Fisher scored 13 points, Crawford Bolton added 11, and the host Scouts won the North Suburban Conference contest.
Lake Forest improved to 4-4 and 2-1 in the NSC, while Warren fell to 4-3 and 1-2.
