Suspect charged in Elk Grove gift card thefts

According to a village news release, 45-year-old Travis G. Moody was arrested Tuesday by Elk Grove police and has been charged with two felony counts of use of an unissued debit card.

The news release didn't indicate an address for Moody, and details were unavailable from police Thursday night.

Moody's court date is Nov. 11.

Last month, the village mailed a $200 gift card to each of the 14,000 households in town to blunt the impact of inflation.

Officials say there have been 17 reported thefts of the gift cards.
