Looking for savings from tax reform

Sixth Congressional District Rep. Peter Roskam sent out an advertisement in the mail stating that a typical family will save an average of $4,000-plus per year with the new tax laws.

The IRS released some of the new 2018 tax law changes, so I spent time investigating what we might save on our 2018 taxes. As a family of four, with two college-age kids and both of us working, our federal tax burden appears to be increasing from approximately $9,000 to $18,500.

I guess Rep. Roskam is hoping we believe his advertisements, and not figure out our taxes before the election.
