Woman hospitalized after crashing into Batavia bank

One person was taken to the hospital in serious condition after a car crashed into a column outside a Batavia bank last night, fire officials said. Emergency responders were called at about 5:30 p.m. to PNC Bank, 825 N. Randall Road, and arrived to find a vehicle that had struck a column outside the bank, Batavia Battalion Chief John Lucas said. A fire damaged a Round Lake home last night, but fire officials say a closed bedroom door was key in containing the blaze. Police investigating deaths of two 18-year-olds in St. Charles

Police say they are investigating the deaths of two 18-year-olds who were found in the back seat of a car yesterday morning in St. Charles. Police were called at 8:08 a.m. for a report of a suspicious vehicle on the 0-100 block of North 17th Street, authorities said. Full story.

Hanover Park man charged with battery, sexual assault

A Hanover Park man, who authorities say struck and sexually assaulted a woman after telling her only he could have her, was ordered held on $500,000 bail yesterday. Michael Brown was charged with aggravated domestic battery and criminal sexual assault. Full story.

Light the Lamp getting ready for new Grayslake location

Light the Lamp Brewery in Grayslake soon will be moving its production to another village building, the first phase of the beer maker's planned expansion. Rehabilitation work continued yesterday on a 101-year-old building at 2 S. Lake St. in downtown Grayslake, where Light the Lamp will have a combined production facility, tap room and restaurant.
