Yes, there was Christmas during WW II

Daily articles appear in the media like the one written by Mr. Robert A. Vlazny and published in your paper on Dec. 29.

He stated that the Nazis banned the celebration of Christmas during World War II. This is untrue and false. I was born in Austria before the annexation of Austria by the Nazi Regime and grew up during World War II. I still remember quite well how I came along to cut down a little tree on Christmas Eve that was later decorated for the celebration.

Christmas was simply never banned, and several people that I contacted confirmed that. Church services may have been somewhat reduced but no one was ever in danger.
