Schools' management needs consolidating
Your " Shrinking Government" article in the Aug. 16 edition of the Daily Herald was superb.
With the current condition of our state something different needs to be implemented. In addition to our government our schools systems need a major change. Our property taxes are much higher than most of our country.
My suggestion is as follows:
Our schools take 60 percent of our property tax payments. From that 60 percent, the school district management takes 60 percent. Like other states in the U.S., their school districts are much more consolidated and the costs are much lower resulting in a much smaller property taxes for their residents. From what I have read and heard the consolidation of school district management has not affected the quality of education for their children.
I suggest Illinois politicians contact other states who have consolidated school district management and learn how to set up such a structure in Illinois. Schools would receive their required funding and the residents would receive a major property tax reduction. And the quality of education of our children would remain unchanged.
If Fortune 500 companies have the same type financial issue as the state of Illinois, they would make major changes in their management structure. As a former Fortune 500 company worker I have seen and experienced this type of major management structure change.
Wake up Illinois politicians. the residents are moving away from your sloppy management.
