Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?MHS is a great school! One issue that motivates me is to help more students become involved in school. We need more students to participate in clubs/athletic programs as our participant rate is low. More student involvement will foster a stronger student body and help set our students up for success. What do you think about the process for measuring student success in your district? Is it adequate? What changes, if any, do you propose? The current school board recently changed the school schedule so now is the time to put new metrics in place to ensure all our students are successful. How big a role do you think the board of education should play in setting the curriculum for students and what ideas do you have for changes to the current curriculum? The school board should be involved in setting the curriculum for our students. The curriculum needs to meet the needs of the entire student body. What budget issues will your district have to confront and what measures do you support to address them? If you believe cuts are necessary, what programs and expenses should be reduced or eliminated? On the income side, do you support any tax or fee increases?I would like to work within the budget to continue our growth and any future expansions. What role can and should school choice play in your district? If Congress or the state approves a voucher system or other means giving students broader choices among public and private schools, how will that affect your district? What is the appropriate response for the board of education of a public school system?School choice is very interesting and will affect all school districts in unique but different ways. Should this happen, I would meet with fellow board members to discuss the impact and formulate an appropriate response. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Mundelein High School is a great school community. I want to make sure all our students succeed so future Lake County residents view Mundelein as a great place to live because of our school and our community. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Not many current leaders to choose from. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?My Father would always tell his 11 children that there are rules - he was an attorney for Allstate. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would have pursued a career in education. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?History. My oldest child is a history major in college so now we have much to discuss. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Work hard.
