While fans are eagerly anticipating the follow-up to 2017's "Overexposed" album, Chicago's Sleep On It has been pushing it hard, touring the country and putting together something new. The band embarks on a new tour this week, co-headlined by Canadian punk band Like Pacific. The rest of the lineup is nothing to sleep on, either, with the likes of In Her Own Words, Never Loved and our own Homesafe rounding out the bill. Pitchfork weekend
The 11th edition of the Pitchfork Music Festival packs three stages with a good mix of festival newbies and return appearances. Haim takes the main slot Friday, along with Motown legends Isley Brothers Saturday and Robyn Sunday. But be sure to make a day (or three) of it so you can soak up all the indie rock, hip-hop, pop and surprises the fest has in store. Noon Friday through Sunday, July 19-21, at Union Park, 1501 W. YESFest highlights art
YESFest - Elmhurst's contribution to the performance and visual art discussion - presents 60 acts across three stages over the course of three days in and around the Elmhurst Art Museum. See music, poetry and comedy performed by Chicago-area artists, as well as visual presentations and a film festival component. Don't miss the after-shows at Elmhurst Brewing Company (171 N. Kingdoms, Reasons at Beat Kitchen
Fresh off the release of the new single, "Secrets," The Million Reasons brings its powerful twist on rock to the Beat Kitchen stage, when the band plays alongside the energy of the punk-influenced alternative rock band Tiny Kingdoms. Rock bands Old Sol and Polarizer round out a killer night of music.
