Hanover Township trustee resigns
The Hanover Township board voted to accept the resignation of Trustee Mary Alice Benoit at Tuesday's meeting.
A member of the board for 10 years, Benoit cited time constraints as the reason for her resignation as she moves into her new role as business manager for St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and School this summer.
"Mary Alice served with distinction and always lived the mission of Hanover Township," Supervisor Brian P. McGuire said. "Whether it was serving as a liaison to the township's committees and boards, or advocating for township programs and services in the community, Mary Alice always had the best interest of our residents at heart, and her voice will be missed on the board."
Benoit also chaired the township's Mental Health Housing Task Force from 2015 to 2016 that initially identified the need for affordable supportive housing for disabled residents.
"It has been my privilege to be a part of Hanover Township for the past 10 years as a trustee and for nine years prior to that as a member of the Hanover Township Mental Health Board," Benoit said. "I have met many wonderful residents and have been honored to work alongside so many devoted elected officials and dedicated employees over the years. We have faced many challenges together and I hope that in some small way, I have helped to make Hanover Township a better place to live. I am leaving Hanover Township in good hands and I hope to be able to continue to work with them as a strong community partner in my new position."
