Boys soccer: CL South, Dundee-Crown roll in regional openers

With a 7-2 win over Woodstock North, Crystal Lake South improved to 15-4-4 and will advance to the Class 2A Crystal Lake South regional final on Friday.

CL South will play the winner of the Prairie Ridge/Woodstock matchup. Alex Canfield and Evan Carlson each got a hat trick for the Gators and Carson Hill tended goal.

Dundee-Crown 6, Jefferson 0: Roland Dearborn had 3 goals and an assist for the Chargers (12-9-1) who will advance to the Class 3A Dundee-Crown regional final on Saturday to face the Cary-Grove/Streamwood winner.

Julian Saldana had a goal and 3 assists and Venancio Mejia and Nathan Becker split goalie duties tallying a save each.

Kaneland 5, Rochelle 2: The Knights were up 2-1 at the half and never looked back, advancing to the Class 2A Wheaton Academy regional final Friday to face host Wheaton Academy. Tucker Jahns led Kaneland with 3 goals.

South Elgin 7, Grant 0: The Storm (12-8-4) dominated both sides of the field, earning a bid to the Class 3A Huntley regional final Friday against the winner of the Larkin/Huntley match. Angel Garcia-Resendiz scored 4 goals and had an assist for South Elgin and Nick Flores had a goal and 3 assists.
