Local Businesses Provide Lunch for OPRF/Forest Park First Responders
Local real estate agent Jeff Emerson of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services and his partnering lender, Dan Matas of Key Mortgage, delivered 21 pizzas to four area fire departments along with 30 pints of ice cream this past Wednesday, September 14..
The real estate and lender duo supported local businesses in their endeavor to honor the area's first responders by ordering pizza from Benny's Pizza in Oak Park and ice cream from Brown Cow in Forest Park. They dropped off lunch and dessert at Oak Park Fire Department, River Forest Fire Department, and the Forest Park Fire Department.
"We wanted to show our appreciation for what these firefighters do day-in and day-out and feeding them was the least we could do," said Jeff Emerson at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services. "I also give up a portion of my commission through Berkshire Hathaway when a first responder buys or sells a home to save them money and Key Mortgage offers a closing credit as well," he said.
The timeliness of the lunch was not a coincidence, coinciding with the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Emerson and Matas both noted that not enough is done to honor First Responders. The real estate team plans on making lunch an annual tradition and will continue to offer discounted services for first responders
