Believe Project: $100 to Mundelein woman to buy clothing for the homeless
Today's recipient of a $100 bill through the Believe Project is Wanda Gilmore of Mundelein. Here is an excerpt of her story:
"In the past, I went to Burlington Coat Factory and bought $100 worth of clothing and gave it to homeless people in the PADS program who needed underwear, T-shirts, socks and coats.
"I know the feeling, because I was homeless as well and now I am back on my feet and have a family.
"Still, homeless people have a place in my heart, and with that $100 I would do it again in a heartbeat.
"Men, women and children need to have clothes to find work, to go to school. It lifts them up."
• The Believe Project is awarding at least $100 each day in December to people with good ideas for how to use the money to do a good deed for someone else. If you'd like the chance to help someone, submit your idea at events.dailyherald.com/believe/ no later than Friday, Dec. 7.
