Mundelein company says 'thank you' to health care workers with 500 pizzas
Employees at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville enjoyed a big thank you in the form of 500 pizzas.
Utopia Global Inc., a Mundelein-based data software and services company, donated the pizzas as part of its uCARES initiative.
The charitable effort supports hospital workers on the front lines of the emergency medical response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"They are the true heroes in this crisis," said Arvind J. Singh, CEO at Utopia Global. "Supporting them in this very small way is the least we can do to share our admiration and thanks."
Utopia partnered with Jim Gronemann, independent owner of the Domino's location closest to its office. Gronemann said he had been considering ways to support local health care workers.
"When Utopia said their goal was 500 pizzas in one day, we knew we had found the right partner," he added.
Matthew Primack, president of Advocate Condell Medical Center, said he was "incredibly grateful" to Utopia.
"The ongoing outpouring of support from the community has been truly inspiring to our front-line doctors, nurses and team members as they navigate care for those impacted by COVID-19," he said.
Utopia said it will continue uCARES through June, making biweekly distributions to local hospitals. The company also is offering North American-based health organizations data services to help maintain a continuity of care.
