Soft lockdown at Woodland Intermediate School
Police activity near Woodland Intermediate School and the District 50 Educational Support Center in Gurnee prompted a brief lockdown at the facilities Friday morning, officials said. The security alert was issued about 9:40 a.m. and lasted about 10 minutes. The soft lockdown was prompted by a police search for two people who had run away from a car accident in the area, a Woodland Elementary District 50 spokeswoman said. Both suspects eventually were arrested. During the lockdown, students were brought indoors and told to remain in their classrooms with the doors locked. The facilities' main doors were locked, too.
