Chicago cop convicted in Laquan McDonald's death moved again

CHICAGO (AP) - A white former Chicago police officer convicted of second-degree murder last year in the 2014 death of black teenager Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times, is no longer in a federal prison in New York.

Authorities won't say where he was transferred or the reason he was relocated.

The Illinois Department of Corrections confirms that Jason Van Dyke left the Otisville, New York, facility for another prison. Corrections Department spokeswoman Lindsey Hess would only say that the 41-year-old Van Dyke is not being held in Illinois.

This is at least the third time that Van Dyke has been transferred since being sentenced in January to nearly seven years in prison. He was jailed in the Quad Cities area and then moved to a federal prison in Connecticut. Then, amid concerns about his safety, he was moved to the Otisville prison.
