Household hazardous waste collections in Gurnee

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County is holding household chemical waste collections on Saturday March 12 and 26, at its facility, 1311 N. Estes St., Gurnee.

Collections are for residential waste only. Business waste will not be accepted.

The event is at no cost for Illinois residents only. Accepted items include: CFL bulbs, unwanted prescription, over-the-counter medicines and supplements (people and pet), household cleaners, gasoline, garden chemicals, pesticides, oil-based paints (no latex), varnishes and other household chemicals.

Appointments are required and participants are asked to stay in their vehicles. Visit swalco.org for a more detailed list and to register.
