Grayslake composting program begins Dec. 10

The first pickup of Grayslake's new Green Package curbside composting program will be Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The village came to an agreement with Waste Management to initiate the program this year. It allows residents to use a dedicated 35-gallon cart for organics, in addition to regular trash and recycling carts.

Collections will be made every other week December through March and weekly from April until the end of November. Pickups during the winter months will be on Tuesdays. From April 1 to Nov. 30, pickups will be on the same day as residents' regular garbage and recycling pickup.
