Robbers armed with AK-47 hold up Gurnee bank
A man and a woman wearing red masks and armed an AK-47 military rifle held up a Gurnee bank Monday morning in what the FBI is describing as a takeover robbery.
The robbers entered the Norstate Bank at 5384 Grand Ave. at 10:55 a.m. Monday and escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the FBI.
No injuries were reported.
The first robber is described as a white woman standing 5 foot 6 inches or 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. She carried a black duffel bag and wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and a red mask.
The second robber is described as a white man, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black “Jordan”-brand shoes with red soles and a red mask.
The pair fled the scene in a blue 2015 to 2018 Nissan Rogue, authorities said. They are considered armed and dangerous, according to the FBI.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to arrests.
