I saw this praying mantis two weeks ago on our front porch. I had a difficult time getting up close with a hanging flower basket in my way. It kept turning its' head to watch me every time I moved to a new position. We have quite a few hummingbirds visiting us daily in the summer, and I was saddened that the praying mantis is one of their top twopredators. Nature at its' best and worst. Enjoy the pictures. Cheryl Mauzer of Huntley
Walking a path in Burnidge Forest Preserve yesterday, I came upon this Milkweed pod - bursting forth with its promising contents. Next summer, hopefully, some Monarch butterflies will find their potential life sustaining plant source. Maria A. Crawford of Elgin
